The Obvious answer to Chelsea Stadium Debate is Clearlake's chance for redemption
The never-ending headache comes at an extra cost when you have to try and win over people you have actively annoyed
The poetic irony of Chelsea’s stadium choice if they propose to move a mere 15 minutes away from Stamford Bridge to Earls Court, is that Clearlake and Todd Boehly will have to earn the trust of people they are probably furthest away from right now.
Chelsea’s potential stadium redevelopment or moving to a new site has been the longest-running melodrama in a club filled with them. Stretching back to 2011 when Roman Abramovich lost his pursuit to buy back the freehold on Stamford Bridge from the Chelsea Pitch Owners (CPO), ideally to move to a new site. This highlighted the unique complexity of Chelsea’s biggest stalemate.
There are a lot of lies, misconceptions, smears and bad faith statements posted online to try and warp the CPO’s intentions. If you only listened to X, it is a small cabal of out-of-touch supporters selfishly grasping to a bygone era, holding the club back from making progress.
Like a lot of things said on Chelsea’s weird corner of X, it just is not close to actual reality.
